Jonathan & Sue
Hi - my name is Jonathan and my friends call me 'chief'... amongst other things. The good-looking one in the picture is my wife, Susan.

A little bit about me. I like: the Simpsons, Marmite, Football, and I would love to own a Golf GTI. I dislike: Brussel Sprouts, flying, and traffic jams.

I originate from Chelmsford in Essex, which is home to Marconi - and is, apparently, the birthplace of the radio - and it's also famous for Virgin V festivals, BritVic Juice and not a lot else (although others may beg to differ).

Before completing three years of training in Sheffield in Mission and Evangelism Studies, I worked in the 'great outdoors' - initially in parks and gardens, and later as Head Groundsman & Green Keeper for a private hospital group.

You may be wondering what possessed me to exchange working in the great outdoors for working full time in the Church of England. So, let me enlighten you. After a misguided and turbulent youth - including truancy from school, alcohol and drugs - I encountered the dynamic of Christianity in a close friend (when I was 18). Prior to this, I had experienced little of what the 'church' had to offer since I had always found 'religion' to be boring. This friend went on to tell me about the reality of Jesus, and I could see the impact that this new-found belief had on his life; he had a renewed sense of purpose, and an overwhelming sense of belonging, as well as incredible joy. This affected me deeply, and it felt as though someone had pushed the 'switch' on.

It was another twenty years before I took the step to train for full-time Christian ministry, and it was in 2004 that I was employed here in Aldershot as an Outreach Worker with an added responsibility to develop the children and youth work.

The thing that I value most about Holy Trinity is that it is a welcoming church, with people from all walks of life, different ages, different cultures, and, as a church family, we know how to have fun and enjoy ourselves!

If you are interested in any part of my life story, or want to learn more about Holy Trinity's work in the Aldershot community or amongst young people, then please don't hesitate to contact me at or phone 01252 314418
