Weekly Small Group Meetings:
The elements of a POD (non App) evening, normally hosted by a member of the group, should usually include
- Welcome, an opportunity to get to know each other better, maybe using ice-breakers;
- Worship, time spent in worship, any style;
- Word, study of the Bible together, seeking to hear God speaking to the group and individuals;
- Spirit, an openness to the Holy Spirit for ministry, support, encouragement and challenge;
- Prayer for individuals and the wider community as well as listening to God.
POD sessions are to be a maximum of 2 hrs long, weekly, and will include refreshments and, for some groups, maybe a meal.
The average size of a POD is 12 members, but they work with as few as six or seven.
Ideally each group will have at least one leader and one co-leader. However, others in the group will be encouraged to host, lead Bible-studies (with a bit of training), worship times, prayer times and ice breakers so that all are involved and ‘own’ the group.
